We are Lancaster is a solution to a need. It is an online presence, but it is also a message to our community. We are Lancaster is a blog that aims to celebrate the wonderful doers and makers of things in our city. The ones that are here because they love this town. We want to provide a different perspective to residents of Lancaster. We want to remind them that Lancaster is not about business, it is about people…WE are Lancaster.
Our content will cover cultural events and amazing people in Lancaster, as well as the things that inspire all of us. We will focus on art, music, food, and creative lifestyles. Our goal is to create a community that encourages one another to create, to live inspirational lives, and to enjoy life. Read more on the about page.
What should they be? Join us in helping us decide. Currently:
- Honesty, and collaboration.
- To authentically represent the brilliance of our city.
- To pair quality things happening in our city with the good things happening in other cities, in an attempt to change perception of our creative environment.
- Encourage people to live and work here.
- Share stories about the people of Lancaster, and demonstrate the personality of Lancaster.
- To encourage quality culture in our city, and celebrate the quality that currently exists.
- To produce a quarterly independent arts journal.
- To become a trusted source for recommendations and provide much more than event listings.
- To listen to you and organically grow into what our community wants from us.
Sustainability. That is all. Aside from that, we acknowledge that we cannot decide what is best for the community. We trust that over time, through hard work, and enough voices, We Are Lancaster will grow into something great. Sustainability will require funding. We plan to sell affordable filtered advertising to businesses and individuals we believe in. If you have questions, ask. We are committed to flexibility and transparency.
Because you are awesome! Because you are the users of our city. We have a good network of tourist bureaus, events guides and government organizations that have our best in mind, but we live here, and we will decide what our city becomes. We know that we cannot do this on our own. We are asking you to partner with us in something that will benefit our creative community, and our city in general.
We ask that our contributors commit to We Are Lancaster’s mission. We want you to be willing to consistently post awesomeness to our site. If you are a regional contributor we hope that you can share the amazing things that are happening in your city. If you are from Lancaster, we want you to help make sure we are covering all of the great people and great things that are here. We Are Lancaster contributors will gain access to our site as an author. If you are interested please begin sharing content with us, and email us to get more information. If we find out it is a good partnership, we will extend an invitation to you to be a contributor.
You get an audience. You get the satisfaction of sharing what inspires you with others. Contributors will receive a bio, link to your site, and image on our contributors page. Others can share inspiration with us that we will post for them, contributors will post on their own.
